Material for today: PURPLE I ironed today

Well I thought I had been posting everyday here, even though it was only my choice of Material for the day, however nothing has been saved since Thursday. I will try and see if I can fix this.

I ironed most of the purple I have, though nothing under a FQ was ironed. I will be folding it later tonight. I am going to put it back in the box it came out of till I can do the studio.

Material for today: RABBITS

I am folding my stash the way the book "Perfect Quilting Studio" says. I bought some more starch which I will need as I starch, iron and fold my stash. It is going to shock me I think when I reach the final amount.

The little white rabbit spent the day under the Gardenia bush in front of the bedroom while it rained. Poor thing looked cold but not too wet. I would have taken a box out there for him but I don't think he would have appreciated it.

Today's Material: HAPPY

I went this morning to the quilt shop and found out what I need to get to make the quilt Infinity. I bought the thread and I had already ordered the material.

Here is a link to the site of the quilt I will be doing. It is a quilt-as-you-go and using a 'new' round ruler. I don't know much more that that.

I am really looking forward to doing this quilt as I think it will look stunning when I have finished and I will have finished by the end of the year.

Material for today: SOMETHING I washed today

I received the last outstanding package today

I washed all my birthday swap material plus all that David has bought me and then I added my Retreat Siggies material too. Now that they are all starched and dry all I have to do is iron them however it is too hot to do that today. I have folded them all so they are ready to go.

Tuesday, January 22, 2008

I took some photos of some of the FQ's I received from the ladies from Birthday Swap 3. I am not sure what I will be doing with them however a rail post pattern or a weaving patter is top of the list.

Material for today: BATIKS from Retreat Siggies

I tried a pattern out in EQ6 today for the Retreat Siggies and it looked kind of good. I am not sure of colours so had to just put in Batiks of any colour to get a general overview.

I have the material out and ready to wash which I will do tonight. I can then starch and iron it too.

One of the books I received for my birthday was "Creating your perfect Quilting Studio". I am so close to decided to claim the second bedroom as my quilt studio especially as we will have to have the carpet replaced due to the washer overflowing. I just have to decide about the degree of expense I am willing to go to. So far I have no budget so it is a free for all. I do know that I will be putting tiles down. I did think about floor board but felt the tiles won't show any marks when I move stuff about.

I am going to have to fold and count all my material. While it won't take me and some friends 200 hours it will take some time. I will by the time I have done that decided on a budget, what I want and what is practical. Oh well I may just dream for a little while.

Material for today: SOMETHING FROM BS3

This morning I spent several minutes opening all my birthday FQ's. They are wonderful. I am thinking of making a quilt with them in either a weaving pattern or rail fence. I just have to have a look at how they look when I have finished.

David's present from the US isn't here yet but I did explain that it wouldn't be here until early next week.

Mum came over and gave me a food hamper full of yummy things. We spent a couple of hours on the puter playing with EQ6 which was fun. Next time I will encourage her to play instead of me. I think she will enjoy it.

Material for today: BURGUNDY for hair

I started scanning some of my stash today into EQ6. The first few took a while to do but once I got the hang of it, it was easy. Not sure if I am happy with the results of some of the material as it resizes the picture automatically and on one piece it has only the sky showing not the rest. Still it will make it easier for me when planing my scrap quilts.

I sent off two more thank you's for the Birthday Swap 3. I am really looking forward to opening them all tomorrow.

Today's Material: BATIK from Retreat Siggy's

Today I joined the stay at home swap Roosting Robin. This is due to the fact that Suzy, the swap diva for Birthday Swap 3, said it was a great swap and to join. I like the idea of not having to worry about picking up or posting something every month.

Three more parcels arrived today for the Birthday Swap 3, which makes 5 so far. I didn’t even open them just squeezed them and now I have to count the sleeps to the day.

I did fossick about in my stash for something suitable for the centre block for my Roosting Robin but could find nothing! However I just know tomorrow will be different.

I also picked out the batik and background material I need for the Perth Retreat in May. Now all I have to do is do them.

Today's material: TOOLS

Didn't do too much today. I had to be up really early as the security door man was due at 8am. I mean who would want an appointment that early? However he fixed the problems and now all is well.

Discovered that I had put in the wrong address for this blog and no one has been able to view it. I have corrected that now. I am such a dufus at times.

I have finished some of the Hearts I want to send to others and now all I have to do is iron them and post them off which I will do over the weekend.

Here are some picture of a quilt I made a couple of years ago. It was for my step daughter. I can only hope after the time, effort and money I put into it she appreciates it.

Many of the blocks were done by machine. I mostly did hand embroidery and candle wicking also though it was machine sewn and quilted. It was the second quilt I even did and I have to say to anyone thinking about making this sort of quilt as their second one DON'T. It was not a good choice for a beginner.

Here is a closer view.

It turned out so well that I really didn't want to give it away. LOL

Today's material: MEDICAL OR RABBITS

No time to quilt as I had to order my new washer and see the Dr. Both accomplished so tomorrow is another day.

I did see the big white rabbit again this morning. So this evening I door knocked and found the owners. It seems they escape at night to visit.

Today's material: BUSY or RABBITS or WATER

Well what a funny night. At 01:40 there was a knock at the door and a female asked for Kirk. I said no and she left. Hate a knock at the door in the middle of the night. Eventually she went two doors down.

I saw what I thought were two plastic bags on the front lawn and went to put them in the bin however the bags turned out to be two rabbits!! One was small but the other was really big. They were white though I think the smaller one had black or brown marking on it. They appeared to be very tame and hung about the garden till I got up at 02:35. They were gone when I got up again about 6am.

I achieved so much today it may take a month or two to recover. LOL

I have organised for the security doors to be fixed.

I have checked out the washers and decided on the one I think would be fine.

I then rang SCGH Urology regarding David's prostate appointment for February only to discover that no one had sent the referral to them. So I have had to follow that up.

Made an appointment with the local GP for both of us.

Next on my 'to do list' was Osborne Park OT and David's ACAT assessment and OT assessment. That is sorted as soon as they have the referral it is all go.

Next I rang and found out the white good pick is next Monday so I have a week to take everything out.

The last thing I had to do was ring someone about the bore. He came tonight with his son and fixed the bore.

So although I didn't get any sewing done I think all in all I have had a very productive day.

Today's material: WATER Again.

Material for today water again as that is about all I have dealt with today.

I have done some Hearts to send off but still have to sew them onto the background material. I will try and to that later today when it is a little coolers.

Today's material: WATER Again.

All sewing was put on hold as I am having trouble with the washing machine. The upshot is I am getting a new machine come Monday. Yeah me.

Tomorrow I will have to nurse the old machine to get the last of my washing done however after that the sewing machine calls.

More sewing on my Heart Quilt

I did some more sewing on my Heart Quilt. It is starting to look good. I am hoping to do some more tomorrow. I have to iron the blocks and it is just too hot to even try.

DH gave me some money to buy some material with and so I decided to buy from the US. I find with the dollar being so good and our income being 10% of what it was that sometimes this will just have to happen. I did ask my local quilting shop if the next lot of material will be less because they are buying it when the dollar is so low and they said no. I know they have to make a profit but 300% is a bit much. I don’t know if they are paying the same as usual or not but someone is making a small fortune and it isn’t me.

Although I am not doing a yearquilt this year I have decided to add at the bottom of each post what material I would have used if I was. I have done several of these quilts and really enjoyed them but at the moment I am not up to the task.

Today’s material would relate to teeth, I went to the dentist, or maybe some of my Heart quilt material.
